Karen is an analytical chemist with over 10 years of experience in the design, fabrication and implementation of bipolar electrochemical systems, microfluidics, point-of-care diagnostics, bioanalytical sensors, and applied electrochemistry. She obtained a B.S. in chemistry from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2009 and Ph.D. in analytical chemistry from the University of Texas at Austin in 2014. Before joining LIBD, Karen worked at the 3M Corporate Research Analytical Laboratories, the University of California Santa Barbara during her postdoctoral training, and Diagnostic Biochips, where she began her journey in the neuroscience field. At LIBD, Karen applies her analytical skills to develop in vitro and in vivo neurotransmitter-specific methods to evaluate the performance of the drugs developed by the LIBD team.
